The government is absolutely not planning to raise taxes on businesses and freelancers, Greek National Economy and Economics Minister Kostis Hatzidakis reiterated on Thursday, ANA reports.
Speaking to Alpha TV, he said, “There is no intention to raise the tax rates. Our main aim is to increase revenues by fighting tax evasion, and at a later stage to reduce the tax rates.”
Hatzidakis said the ministry is examining a new and fairer taxation system for freelancers and independent business owners, and that will be achieved through cross-checks on digital platforms.
Asked about reductions in the VAT for tourism, coffee, and so on, the minister pointed out it related to the budget for 2024 and the government would be examining the issue.
