With summer almost upon us (we’ll just ignore those British rain spells), it’s officially the best time of year to lace up your trail running shoes and head off-road. Outdoors brand The North Face has released its new Enchanted Collection just in time to add a pop of colour to your wardrobe, perfect if you’re heading to a running festival this summer.
The brand says its funky prints take inspiration from the desert and its fastest running resident, the roadrunner bird, whose slender legs propel it along the ground at speeds faster than a human. Pretty cool, eh?
The Enchanted Trails collection sees some of The North Face’s technical trail shoes injected with new tropical prints — and we're fans.
The Vectiv Eminius (which we rated as one of the best trail running shoes for this season), is a high-comfort, genuine road-to-trail option. It surpassed testers’ expectations on both trail and asphalt, and will suit runners who want to cover a mix of the two.
Other shoes in the Enchanted line-up are the Summit Vectiv Pro – a super-cushioned shoe for long- and ultra-distance trail runs. The shoe has a rocker midsole profile to aid propulsion and, when combined with a carbon fibre plate, it makes for a shoe that keeps you moving when your legs are saying ‘no more’. The plate adds stability and, in testing, the shoe felt secure and stable over the roughest ground.
The Vectiv Infinite II completes the set, offering oversized lugs and a durable upper for trickier terrain.
And when it comes to gear, you can grab some of The North Face’s running essentials in new funky colourways, too.
First up are the Limitless Run shorts, with a secure zippy pocket on the back for your phone or house keys. There's a matching wind jacket, too, for when things turn nippy.
If you don't need something as substantial as a hydration jacket, you can get TNF's run belt in a vivid orange colour. But our personal favourite item is the running bucket hat — we're definitely going to be sporting this at festivals over the next few months.
